Clear Spring, MD – Maryland State Police announced four arrests this week in a triple homicide and house fire that left three people dead in Washington County on November 18. Investigators said additional arrests are expected as the case continues to unfold.
According to Maryland State Police, the suspects — all being held without bond — were taken into custody across several Maryland jurisdictions over the past week. All arrests stem from an investigation into a deadly fire in the 13,000 block of National Pike in Clear Spring, where three victims were found with injuries inconsistent with fire-related causes.
The suspects are identified as Darnell (aka Donnell) Hawkins, 47, of Baltimore; Tony Smith, 43, of Hagerstown; Maurice Mouzon, 46, of Baltimore; and Kierra White, 35, of Glen Burnie. Police said Hawkins and Smith allegedly face three counts of first-degree murder, first-degree arson, and related charges. Hawkins was arrested November 28 in Baltimore County, while Smith was arrested November 23 in Montgomery County.
Mouzon was arrested November 21 in Baltimore City and is charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, distribution of narcotics, and a handgun violation. Police said he allegedly possessed additional narcotics with intent to distribute at the time of his arrest. White, arrested November 25 in Baltimore County, is charged with allegedly acting as an accessory after the fact to murder.
The victims are identified as Brittany Ray, 31, Harold Fliechman, 36, and Brianna Mae Weishaar, 25, all of Clear Spring. Autopsy results are pending with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Investigators believe the triple homicide was not a random act. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is working with the State Fire Marshal, FBI, Hagerstown Police, and Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
