Pendleton, OR – A winter storm warning has been issued for the upper slopes of the Eastern Washington Cascades, with heavy snowfall expected from 5 a.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, areas above 2,000 feet—including Roslyn and Easton—could see between 10 and 16 inches of snow. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph, creating hazardous conditions with low visibility and blowing snow.
The storm is expected to make travel treacherous, with snow-covered roads and the potential for downed trees and power lines. Officials are urging residents to delay travel unless absolutely necessary. Those who must be on the roads are advised to carry emergency supplies, including tire chains, blankets, flashlights, and extra clothing.
Residents should also be prepared for possible power outages. The National Weather Service advises against touching downed power lines and encourages reporting outages to local electric companies.
This winter storm replaces a previously issued winter weather advisory, signaling an increased severity in conditions. The heaviest snowfall is expected Saturday night into early Sunday, with gradual clearing by late morning Sunday.
