Spokane, WA – A red flag warning has been issued for Washington on Monday due to the forecast of scattered thunderstorms accompanied by only brief rain and gusty outflow winds. The National Weather Service warns that critical fire conditions are expected across portions of central and eastern Washington from 3 a.m. to 5 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, the combination of abundant lightning and dry fuels may lead to several new fire starts. Residents are urged to stay alert to the forecast and follow instructions from emergency officials to ensure their safety. The affected areas include Spokane, Ritzville, Moses Lake, and surrounding regions.

The fast movement of the storms is expected to limit rain amounts, exacerbating the fire risk. Today’s forecast in Spokane includes a high of 91°F with clear skies, while similar temperatures are expected to continue through the week. Tuesday will also see a high of 91°F, followed by slightly cooler temperatures with highs in the upper 80s for the rest of the week.
