Pullman, WA – Gardeners and growers across eastern Washington and north-central Idaho should prepare for frost overnight as temperatures drop into the low 30s early Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, a Frost Advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. PDT Monday for areas including Pullman, Moscow, Colville, Okanogan Highlands, and the Idaho Palouse. Overnight lows are expected to range between 32°F and 36°F, cold enough to damage unprotected plants.

Communities in Lewis and Nez Perce counties, as well as across the Palouse and Upper Columbia Basin, are most at risk. Cities such as Colfax, Republic, Ritzville, and Craigmont may see early-morning frost on exposed surfaces. Residents are urged to bring sensitive vegetation indoors or cover outdoor plants to prevent cold damage.

Drivers in higher elevation zones like Sherman Pass, Flowery Trail Road, and Loup Loup Pass should also be cautious of patchy frost on roadways.

This late-season chill follows an unseasonably mild spring and could mark one of the last frost events of May. Warming is expected later Monday, but additional advisories remain possible if temperatures dip again this week.

Stay tuned to local weather updates for any new alerts overnight.
