Warsaw, Virginia – Virginia State Police are asking for the public’s help as troopers investigate a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian earlier this month in Richmond County.

According to Virginia State Police, the crash occurred on Feb. 3 at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Route 360 in the Town of Warsaw. Investigators said Arthur A. Day, 58, of Warsaw, was attempting to cross the roadway about 129 feet west of Campus Drive when he was struck.

Troopers said multiple vehicles were traveling eastbound on Route 360 at the time of the incident. The first vehicle swerved to avoid the pedestrian, but a second vehicle struck Day and fled the scene without stopping.

Witnesses described the striking vehicle as a black or dark-colored SUV traveling eastbound on Route 360. Police said no license plate information was obtained.

Day was transported to VCU Tappahannock Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, authorities said.

Virginia State Police said the vehicle and driver involved remain unidentified, and the crash remains under active investigation. Troopers are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, has dash camera footage, or observed a dark-colored SUV with possible front-end damage in the area around the time of the incident to come forward.

Police emphasized that even small details could help investigators identify the vehicle and driver responsible.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Virginia State Police Division I Dispatch at 804-750-8758 or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov.

For commuters and residents, Route 360 is a heavily traveled corridor through the Town of Warsaw, and investigators are urging drivers to remain alert, especially during evening hours when visibility is reduced.
