Warrenton, MO – Drivers heading eastbound on Interstate 70 toward St. Charles County and the St. Louis region should expect significant slowdowns this week, as roadwork has reduced traffic to one lane in Warren County.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), crews are continuing modifications at the work zone near Stracks Church Road, located at mile marker 196.6. Overnight rain has delayed progress, keeping the interstate in a single-lane configuration until further notice.
MoDOT stated that the duration of this lane restriction is currently unknown. Motorists are being urged to allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes when possible. Traffic congestion is expected during peak travel hours, particularly for commuters heading into the St. Louis metro area.
Drivers are reminded to obey posted work zone signs and follow the directions of personnel for safety. Updates on closures and conditions can be found on MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map and district website.
