Birmingham, Ala. – A stretch of hot afternoons is setting up across central Alabama, with highs reaching into the low to mid-90s by Friday and Saturday. Mornings will remain relatively mild in the 60s, but afternoons are expected to turn increasingly warm heading into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, a warming trend is already underway, with temperatures climbing from the upper 80s midweek into the 90s for most locations. The heat will be most noticeable Friday through Sunday, when Birmingham, Montgomery, and Tuscaloosa could see highs around 93 to 95 degrees.

While much of the state stays dry, forecasters note a low to medium chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms, particularly across northern Alabama. Areas along I-20 and northward could see brief downpours or lightning delays, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

Travelers and outdoor workers should plan for extra heat, stay hydrated, and limit strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours. Residents in northern counties should also stay weather-aware in case isolated storms develop.

The hot pattern holds into early next week, with only slight cooling expected after Monday.
