WALLA WALLA, Wash. — A juvenile was detained this week after Walla Walla Regional Drug and Gang Task Force (WWRDGTF) investigators intercepted a suspected methamphetamine delivery tied to a drug trafficking operation allegedly connected with the Walla Walla State Penitentiary.

According to the task force, detectives were alerted on October 21 by the penitentiary’s Intelligence and Investigation Unit about potential drug coordination both inside and outside the prison. Investigators reportedly learned that a juvenile from Vancouver, Washington, was allegedly paid to transport methamphetamine to Walla Walla.

Detectives say the juvenile was directed to a drop location at the Walla Walla Fairgrounds. With support from the Walla Walla Police Department Drone Team, investigators observed the suspect arriving and leaving a package consistent with drug delivery instructions. Officers made contact shortly afterward, leading to a brief foot pursuit before safely detaining the suspect.

A second juvenile in a nearby vehicle was also detained. Authorities recovered a package that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, weighing approximately 85 grams with an estimated street value exceeding $20,000.

The primary juvenile was booked into the Walla Walla County Juvenile Justice Center on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Controlled Substance Conspiracy, and Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer.

Officials say the case remains active as detectives continue to coordinate with the Washington State Penitentiary’s Intelligence and Investigation Unit. Additional arrests or charges may follow.
