Waldorf, MD – Two men have been charged after Charles County Sheriff’s officers uncovered an organized theft scheme targeting a Home Depot in Waldorf that netted more than $11,000 in stolen merchandise, authorities said.
According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, the thefts occurred over five separate incidents in July 2025. Investigators say the suspects allegedly loaded carts with building materials—including flooring, lighting fixtures, sinks, and a refrigerator—and used fake documents to pose as if they were picking up prepaid orders.
One suspect, Darrell Lee Anderson, 63, of Washington, D.C., was identified and arrested on September 9 after detectives observed him allegedly preparing to commit another theft at the store. Officers executed a search warrant on his vehicle and recovered evidence linked to the earlier crimes.
A second suspect, Clifton Eugene Ratliff, 58, of Temple Hills, Maryland, was arrested on October 16 following further investigation. Anderson was released the same day of his arrest on a $2,000 bond, while Ratliff was released on personal recognizance.
Detectives are now working with regional law enforcement agencies to determine if the pair may be connected to similar thefts across nearby jurisdictions.
