Wakefield, VA – Sunshine and calm conditions will dominate Thursday across much of eastern Virginia, with mild daytime temperatures followed by a chilly night, according to the U.S. National Weather Service in Wakefield.

Highs will reach the lower 60s this afternoon under mostly clear skies. Winds will remain lighter than Wednesday, though forecasters expect breezy conditions to return by Friday. “Your forecast today calls for a sunny day with high temperatures in the lower 60s,” meteorologists said in their latest update.

Overnight, temperatures will dip into the mid to upper 30s for inland areas and low 40s closer to the coast. Cooler air and light winds could lead to some patchy frost early Friday morning, especially west of the Chesapeake Bay.

The pleasant weather continues into the end of the week, with highs climbing into the mid-60s Friday before another front brings increased clouds and breezy conditions heading into the weekend.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of today’s sunshine before temperatures dip overnight.
