Richmond, VA – Residents across Virginia can expect a shift in conditions today, with skies clearing by afternoon and breezy weather continuing along the coast. Highs will stay mainly in the 70s before cooler air settles in tonight.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, the day will start mostly cloudy, with winds strongest near the shoreline. Temperatures tonight will dip into the 40s west of Interstate 95, while coastal areas hold in the 50s to lower 60s.

Looking ahead, Thursday brings partly sunny skies with diminishing winds and slightly cooler highs in the mid-60s to low 70s. Friday remains cool but clear, with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

The weekend forecast looks more favorable. Saturday will be mostly sunny and seasonable, with highs between 70 and 76 degrees. By Sunday, conditions warm further, with highs reaching the mid to upper 70s under clear skies.

Meteorologists note the weekend will be an improvement from the cool, breezy stretch earlier in the week. The outlook points toward a dry, mild start to October across central and eastern Virginia.

Residents are encouraged to plan outdoor activities for Saturday and Sunday as weather stabilizes.
