Wakefield, VA – The National Weather Service in Wakefield warns of possible frost formation late tonight into Sunday morning across inland portions of Virginia and northeast North Carolina, as temperatures dip near or below freezing in some areas.
Forecasters say the highest confidence for frost lies in south-central and southeast Virginia, extending into interior northeast North Carolina, especially in rural and low-lying locations. Overnight lows are expected to fall into the mid-30s, with some spots briefly reaching near 32°F.
Frost Advisories are likely to be issued for parts of the region, mainly east of the I-95 corridor, where calm winds and clear skies will create ideal frost conditions.
Residents are urged to cover or bring inside sensitive plants, as frost development may mark an end to the local growing season in several inland counties.
Sunday will bring sunny skies and light winds, with temperatures rebounding into the upper 50s to low 60s, offering a crisp but pleasant finish to the weekend.
