Wakefield, VA – The National Weather Service Wakefield says residents across eastern and central Virginia can expect breezy southwest winds today as a cold front approaches the region. Wind gusts are expected to reach around 25 mph, especially during the afternoon hours.

According to the NWS, the front will move through late Tuesday, followed by gusty west winds on Wednesday, tapering slightly by Thursday. The blustery conditions will accompany a noticeable drop in temperatures, bringing cooler, fall-like air for the second half of the week.

While the winds are not expected to reach advisory levels, forecasters caution that loose outdoor items could be blown around, and driving may be difficult for high-profile vehicles on open roadways.

Wind gusts are projected to peak between 20 and 28 mph across much of central and eastern Virginia, including Richmond, Norfolk, and the Eastern Shore, before diminishing Thursday night.

Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor decorations and monitor local forecasts for updates as the front moves through.
