Richmond, VA – Residents across Virginia can expect scattered showers early this week before drier and breezier conditions set in by midweek, according to the National Weather Service Wakefield office.

Forecasters said Sunday evening that Tropical Storm Imelda is not expected to cause major impacts in the state. Instead, scattered rain showers are possible Monday and Tuesday, with cooler but humid conditions early in the week. Lows will dip into the mid-60s Monday and upper 50s by Tuesday night.

According to the National Weather Service, showers may affect southern and southeastern Virginia on Tuesday, while most areas should remain dry by Wednesday. Daytime highs will hover in the low-to-mid 70s throughout the week.

By Wednesday and Thursday, conditions will shift to cooler and breezier weather, with gusty winds expected along coastal areas. Forecasters noted that Thursday and Friday will remain windy with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s and cooler overnight lows in the upper 40s.

Looking ahead to next weekend, Virginia should see more stable weather with temperatures in the low-to-mid 70s and drier conditions expected to hold.
