Wakefield, VA – A cool and breezy Friday is underway across eastern Virginia, with gusty winds and dropping evening temperatures expected to close out the day, according to the US National Weather Service Wakefield VA.
Forecasters report westerly winds gusting to 25–35 mph, strongest near the Maryland coast and Chesapeake Bay shoreline. Inland areas will see slightly lighter winds but should still expect breezy conditions through the afternoon.
Despite the wind, skies will remain mostly sunny, with high temperatures ranging from the low to mid-60s. As winds ease overnight, temperatures will fall sharply—into the upper 30s to low 40s inland and the mid- to upper 40s near the coast.
The National Weather Service advises residents to secure lightweight outdoor items and remain cautious when driving high-profile vehicles on bridges and open highways. Winds are expected to subside later tonight, with calmer and cooler weather continuing into Saturday.
