Wake County, NC – Two men are facing major felony drug charges after deputies in Wake County allegedly discovered four kilograms of methamphetamine worth an estimated $1.2 million during a traffic stop earlier this month.
According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a vehicle on Interstate 40 near Aviation Parkway on November 7, 2025. During the search, officers reportedly found the drugs concealed inside the vehicle.
Deputies arrested Helmer Garcia-Ordaz, 25, on two counts of felony trafficking in methamphetamine, one count of felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, and one count of maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances.
Roberto Antonio Lopez-Garcia, 30, was also arrested on two counts of felony trafficking in methamphetamine.
Both suspects were booked into the Wake County Detention Center on a $1.5 million bond. Investigators say the pair brought the drugs into North Carolina from out of state and linked Lopez-Garcia to other drug investigations in Mecklenburg County.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation assisted in the case. Sheriff Willie Rowe emphasized the agency’s zero-tolerance stance, stating, “There is no place for illegal drugs of any kind in Wake County.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released.
