Wake County, NC – Residents in northern Wake County are seeing new developments today after sheriff’s deputies announced arrests connected to a series of vehicle and garage break-ins reported late last month.

According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to 15 reports of breaking into vehicles and attached garages between Saturday, November 23, and Friday, December 6, across several neighborhoods. Streets impacted included Brass Kettle Road, Melcombe Way, and Moresham Way. Victims reported stolen items including at least two firearms, credit cards, and other personal property.

Investigators said a break in the case came on Monday, December 16, when information was shared by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office regarding suspects already arrested in their jurisdictions for similar crimes. Authorities determined that two of those suspects were allegedly responsible for the Wake County incidents.

Deputies obtained arrest warrants for Justin Josue Ramirez-Duarte, 18, who is facing multiple charges, including 10 counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle with theft, five counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, three counts of damage to personal property, two counts of first-degree burglary, and one count of felony larceny. Ramirez-Duarte is currently being held at the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office without bond.

Arrest warrants were also obtained for Keshaun Byrd, 24, who is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, first-degree burglary, and felony larceny. Byrd is being held at the Durham County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond related to charges in Chatham County.

Sheriff Willie Rowe credited interagency cooperation for the arrests, saying the case highlights the effectiveness of regional collaboration. The investigation remains active, and deputies are working to determine whether the suspects may be connected to additional incidents.
