Goodland, Kansas – Drivers across northwest and west-central Kansas are waking up to hazardous travel conditions Sunday morning as dense fog blankets the region, reducing visibility to just a quarter mile in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Goodland, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. CDT (9 a.m. MDT) for counties including Sherman, Thomas, Logan, and Graham. Affected cities include Goodland, Colby, Hill City, Oakley, and Sharon Springs.

Low visibility is already making travel difficult along U.S. Highways 24 and 83, and Interstate 70 could be impacted, especially around exits near Oakley and Colby. Drivers are urged to slow down, turn on headlights, and increase following distances.

Sunday morning flights at local airports such as Goodland Municipal and Colby–Shalz Field may also face delays due to limited visibility.

This advisory follows several days of fluctuating morning conditions across the High Plains. As June continues, fog events like this are common when overnight humidity stays high and winds remain light.

Dense fog is expected to lift by mid-morning, but drivers should remain alert through 10 a.m. CDT. More early-morning advisories are possible in the coming days.
