Blacksburg, VA – Snowfall and strong winds are forecast to create hazardous conditions this weekend, impacting much of the region.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. Friday through 1 p.m. Saturday. The advisory includes southwest Virginia, northwest North Carolina, and parts of southeast West Virginia. Residents should expect up to 4 inches of snow and wind gusts as high as 35 mph.
Officials warn that slippery roads and reduced visibility could make Friday evening travel treacherous. Those planning to drive should proceed with caution, particularly on Interstate 81 and Route 58. Temperatures will dip into the 20s overnight, heightening the risk of black ice.
As the storm subsides, milder conditions are expected Sunday, with highs reaching the mid-40s. However, chilly nights will persist into next week.
