According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, temperatures will climb toward 57°F by afternoon under clear skies. Winds shift southwest and may gust close to 29 mph during the afternoon hours. Drivers along US-460 and Interstate 81 could feel occasional crosswinds on open stretches of roadway.
Calm weather continues tonight with mostly clear skies and lows dropping near 36°F. Saturday remains pleasant across Montgomery County and the New River Valley. Mostly sunny skies push temperatures to about 61°F, offering comfortable early spring conditions for outdoor plans around Virginia Tech and downtown Blacksburg.
Clouds increase Sunday as a developing system approaches from the west. Temperatures reach about 60°F during the afternoon, but scattered showers could begin after mid-afternoon. Roads across the New River Valley may gradually turn damp as the evening approaches.
