Wakefield, VA – Virginia is preparing for significant rainfall as scattered showers and storms are expected today. Areas mainly east of I-95 could see more than 2 inches of rain. Showers and storms are forecast to taper off by this evening.

According to the US National Weather Service Wakefield VA, rainfall totals from Thursday and Friday ranged from 2 to 3 inches in many locations, with some areas receiving up to 6 inches. The highest rainfall reported was 7.10 inches near Lake Drummond in Chesapeake. These conditions have caused concern for potential flooding in the affected regions.

Today’s temperatures in Wakefield are expected to rise to 91°F, with a 100% chance of rain throughout the morning. The forecast predicts a gradual clearing by midday, with temperatures reaching the mid-80s by afternoon.

Looking ahead, Sunday through Tuesday will bring much warmer and drier conditions, with temperatures climbing from the mid-90s to over 100°F. By midweek, there’s a 40% chance of showers on Wednesday, with temperatures in the mid-70s to mid-90s. Thursday also shows a 45% chance of rain, followed by a cooler trend with temperatures in the 60s and 70s through the weekend.
