Blacksburg, Virginia – A stretch of quiet and increasingly mild weather is settling in across southwest Virginia and the southern Appalachians, offering a noticeable warm-up after recent cold conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, skies turn sunnier Sunday with temperatures rising into the upper 30s to mid-50s across the region. Clear to partly cloudy conditions tonight will allow lows to dip into the 20s and lower 30s, though not as cold as recent nights.

Monday continues the warming trend with a mix of sun and clouds and above-normal temperatures. Afternoon highs will range from the mid-40s to mid-50s, making for favorable travel and outdoor conditions across the New River Valley, Roanoke Valley, and mountain communities.

By Tuesday, even warmer air moves in, pushing highs into the mid-50s to mid-60s in lower elevations, with slightly cooler readings in the mountains. Clouds increase through the day, and while most locations stay dry, a few showers may develop in the higher terrain Tuesday night as moisture returns to the region.

The overall pattern remains calm through early week, with no significant weather hazards expected. Residents can expect continued mild conditions into midweek, with any rain chances remaining limited and primarily confined to the mountains. Additional updates will follow if shower coverage increases later Tuesday night.
