Richmond, Va. – Hazy skies and mild temperatures are settling in across Virginia this afternoon as highs climb into the low to mid-70s, bringing a calm start to June but with a chance of evening showers.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, conditions will remain mostly sunny early before skies turn partly cloudy and increasingly hazy by late afternoon. While most areas will stay dry through the day, isolated showers and even a thunderstorm could develop tonight, particularly in southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina.

Cities like Richmond, Norfolk, and Williamsburg will see highs around 73–77°F with low humidity, making for comfortable outdoor conditions. However, travelers and residents from Emporia to Windsor should keep an eye on the radar this evening, as isolated downpours and lightning may briefly impact the area.

The hazy conditions stem from stagnant air and limited wind, reducing visibility slightly by late day. While no air quality alerts are in effect, sensitive groups may want to limit prolonged outdoor activity.

Rain chances taper off overnight, with more sun expected Monday. Another update will be issued if thunderstorm coverage increases.
