Blacksburg, VA – Gusty winds and lingering snow are causing hazardous conditions across portions of Virginia today, especially along I-81. Drivers are urged to exercise caution as wind gusts up to 50 mph could blow debris onto roads, while snowfall may accumulate up to three inches in higher elevations.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, a wind advisory remains in effect until early Saturday morning. Blowing snow is expected to taper off by the afternoon, but dangerous road conditions may persist into the evening. Motorists along I-81 and I-77, especially near the Blue Ridge Parkway, should prepare for reduced visibility and slippery spots.

By Sunday, conditions will improve dramatically with mostly sunny skies and calmer winds forecast. Highs will reach near 57 degrees, offering some relief after the turbulent weather. Monday marks the beginning of a warming trend, with temperatures climbing to the low 60s under clear skies.

Thanksgiving week will bring mild weather, but rain showers are expected Monday night into Tuesday. Travelers should monitor forecasts for potential delays during holiday plans.

Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items today and check for power outages caused by the high winds. For updated road conditions, visit 511Virginia.org or tune into local weather stations.
