Blacksburg, VA – February kicks off with a shift in weather, as rain clears and temperatures trend warmer across southwest Virginia. While some lingering flooding remains a concern along the Greenbrier, Bluestone, and Clinch rivers, drier conditions will take over by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Blacksburg, temperatures will climb above normal early next week, with highs reaching the 60s by Tuesday. Clouds will linger Sunday, keeping highs in the 40s, but Monday brings a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 62°F. By Tuesday, conditions turn even milder, with highs between 58°F and 69°F.

Motorists should remain cautious near Alderson, WV, where river levels may stay high through Saturday evening. Otherwise, the week ahead looks mild, with increasing clouds by Wednesday and a slight chance of showers midweek.

Residents can expect a break from the recent wet weather, with sunshine returning early next week. Keep an eye on the forecast for potential midweek rain chances.
