Richmond, VA – Virginia’s weather may stay cold next week, but snow lovers will likely be disappointed. The NOAA Climate Prediction Center’s 8–14 Day Outlook, issued December 1, shows below-normal temperatures continuing across the Mid-Atlantic from December 9 through December 15, though precipitation chances are trending lower.

The Arctic air that swept into the region to start December will linger, keeping daytime highs in the upper 30s and 40s and overnight lows dipping below freezing across much of the state. However, unlike the first week of the month, the upcoming stretch looks mainly dry, with little to no snow expected.

According to NOAA forecasters, Virginia’s pattern will favor cold, clear, and calm weather, with only occasional clouds or light breezes. Richmond, Roanoke, and Norfolk should expect frosty mornings, while western Virginia could see even colder readings in sheltered valleys.

Meanwhile, the West Coast, Southwest, and Texas will enjoy above-normal warmth and dry conditions — a stark contrast to the chill gripping the East.

Forecasters say Virginia’s cold pattern could persist into mid-December before a slight warm-up approaches closer to the holidays.
