ANNANDALE, Va. – Northern Virginia will shake off its damp and gray start Tuesday as a fresh wave of crisp Fall sunshine takes over midweek. After patchy drizzle early, high pressure will rebuild, delivering clear skies and comfortable temperatures through Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Sterling, light drizzle and low clouds will linger early Tuesday with highs near 69°F. North winds at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 23 mph, will gradually dry the air and usher in cooler, brighter conditions. By Wednesday, skies turn fully sunny with highs around 70°F and much lower humidity — a refreshing change for mid-October.
Lows will dip into the mid-40s Wednesday night under mostly clear skies, marking some of the chilliest air so far this season. The clear, calm pattern will stretch across Fairfax, Prince William, and Arlington Counties, bringing ideal conditions for evening walks, outdoor games, and midweek commuting.
Travelers along I-95, I-66, and the Capital Beltway can expect smooth, dry driving from Wednesday through Saturday. The dry stretch continues through Friday, followed by a modest warm-up into the weekend when highs will climb back into the mid-70s.
Another weak front could bring a few showers by Sunday, but until then, Annandale and the D.C. suburbs will bask in perfect Fall weather — bright, breezy, and comfortably cool.
