Virginia – A cool breeze off the Atlantic is keeping Virginia Beach feeling brisk early today, with temperatures starting in the low 40s and a noticeable chill lingering along the shoreline. Light winds and dry pavement are helping traffic move smoothly along I-264 and Shore Drive, but the air still carries that early spring bite.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, temperatures began near 42°F with light northeast winds and clear visibility across the coastal region. While no major hazards are in place, the cooler marine air is slowing the warm-up compared to inland areas.

By midday, conditions improve steadily. Skies turn partly sunny, and temperatures rise into the mid-50s across Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Chesapeake. It’s a comfortable but still cool afternoon, especially near the water where the breeze holds firm.

Friday marks a more noticeable shift. Sunshine dominates with highs reaching near 62°, making for a mild and pleasant day across the Hampton Roads region. Travel conditions remain ideal, and outdoor plans should see no interruptions.

The weekend continues the warming trend. Saturday climbs to around 68° with mostly sunny skies, followed by upper 60s Sunday under bright conditions. Beachgoers will notice lighter winds and improving comfort levels.

Looking ahead, early next week brings a stronger push of warmth. Highs jump into the upper 70s Monday and low 80s by Tuesday, signaling a fast transition toward early summer conditions along the Virginia coast.
