Blacksburg, VA – Drivers across southwest Virginia should prepare for patchy fog late Friday night into Saturday morning, with visibility expected to be reduced in several counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, the highest risk for fog formation will be near bodies of water, including rivers, lakes, and valleys. Conditions are most favorable overnight into early Saturday morning as calm winds and clear skies contribute to fog development.

Motorists are advised to take extra precautions when traveling in affected areas. The NWS recommends avoiding the use of high beams, driving slowly, and allowing additional space between vehicles. Visibility may change quickly, creating hazardous driving conditions on local roads and highways.

Fog advisories extend across multiple counties in southwest Virginia, including areas near Roanoke, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and along the New River Valley. Drivers are urged to plan extra time for their morning commutes and remain alert for sudden drops in visibility.
