Virginia Beach, Va. – Summer may be heating up, but coastal Virginia is in for a breezy and stormy start to June. Residents in Virginia Beach and surrounding areas should brace for Sunday storms with gusts up to 36 mph and the threat of damaging winds.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, a chance of showers will develop Sunday afternoon, with peak winds reaching 26–36 mph along major corridors like I-264 and I-64. Though rainfall totals remain light, isolated storms may pack enough punch to down tree limbs or briefly disrupt power. Spotter activation is not expected at this time, but residents should stay alert for fast-moving storms.

Sunday night brings clearing skies, but Monday’s winds persist, with sunny skies returning and highs near 75°F. Monday night dips to 61°F, offering a cooler, calmer break before summer temperatures rebound.
