Virginia Beach, VA – Coastal residents are waking up to gusty winds and dangerous surf Monday as the National Weather Service keeps a High Surf Advisory and Coastal Flood Warning in effect through this morning. Waves as high as 10 feet are impacting beaches from Sandbridge to Cape Henry, with water occasionally pushing onto low-lying roads near the bay and oceanfront.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, north winds up to 35 mph will continue to create rough marine conditions along U.S. Route 60 and nearby coastal routes. Drivers and beach visitors are urged to avoid flooded roadways and respect barricades until conditions improve later today.

By Tuesday, the cold front will clear the region, bringing sunny skies and a cool, crisp breeze — perfect for early fall leaf viewing or pumpkin patch visits. Temperatures will hover in the upper 60s through Wednesday before dropping slightly by Thursday morning.

Five-Day Forecast (Virginia Beach):

  • Monday: Cloudy, breezy, high near 65°F.
  • Tuesday: Mostly cloudy early, then clearing, high near 67°F.
  • Wednesday: Sunny, breezy, high near 69°F.
  • Thursday: Clear and cool, high near 63°F.
  • Friday: Mostly sunny, high near 60°F.
