Richmond, VA – Drivers across southeast Virginia and northeast North Carolina should prepare for reduced visibility tonight as patchy to dense fog develops into early Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service Wakefield office, the highest confidence for dense fog is across far southeast Virginia and northeast North Carolina, where conditions may create hazardous travel overnight and into the morning commute. Visibility could be sharply reduced in localized areas, especially along rural roads and low-lying spots.

Temperatures tonight are expected to dip into the upper 50s to lower 60s across the region. By Saturday, conditions will improve with mild weather returning—highs are forecast in the upper 70s northeast to mid-80s southwest.

The Weather Service is urging motorists to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra travel time if driving late tonight or early Saturday morning.

This round of fog follows recent stretches of humid weather and could cause lingering issues through early morning hours before clearing.
