Virginia Beach, Virginia – Summer heat will return with full force as Virginia Beach dries out following Thursday night’s storms, bringing highs near 90°F and heat indices approaching triple digits by mid-afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, sunny skies will dominate Friday, June 20, with southwest winds up to 15 mph and gusts topping 24 mph. The day’s high will reach 84°F, but humidity will push the “feels-like” temperature to 98°F. UV levels will be high — beachgoers and road travelers along Route 60 and I-264 should use sun protection and stay hydrated.

Saturday and Sunday bring continued sunshine and warmer temperatures, with Saturday topping out near 90°F and Sunday climbing to 92°F. Winds will stay light and variable. This dry stretch will boost tourism but could increase fire risk in dry brush areas — residents should avoid outdoor burning.

Nights will remain warm and mostly clear, with lows in the low to mid-70s, offering little overnight relief. No rain is expected through Sunday night, and the calm pattern is forecast to hold into Monday, which will see a high near 89°F under clear skies.

Those sensitive to heat or with outdoor plans should take standard summer precautions, especially midday. No weather alerts are currently active, but the NWS will monitor for any developing advisories.

REMINDER: Check local air conditioning shelters if needed and limit outdoor activity from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
