Virginia Beach, VA – Scorching heat is set to blanket Virginia Beach on Thursday as a dangerous heat index climbs to 105°F, triggering an Extreme Heat Warning for the region.

According to the National Weather Service, high temperatures will peak near 93°F with humidity pushing “feels-like” conditions into triple digits. The advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday, but Thursday brings equally intense heat. Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor activity during the afternoon and check on vulnerable individuals. Light and variable winds will offer little relief, and inland areas may feel even hotter.

Oceana Boulevard and the surrounding neighborhoods will see direct impacts, with prolonged sun exposure increasing the risk of heat exhaustion. Beachgoers and outdoor workers should stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, and wear light clothing. Power grids may face higher usage, so consider limiting appliance use during peak afternoon hours.

Thursday night brings a slight chance of thunderstorms after 11 p.m., possibly cooling things slightly into the upper 70s. The weekend remains mostly sunny with highs near 90°F, though storm chances return by Sunday night and into next week.
