Charlottesville, VA – A Virginia State Police trooper attempted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Impala on Fontaine Avenue at 8:13 a.m. Monday. The driver refused to stop, prompting a pursuit.
The suspect exited at Ivy Road, slowed down, and fled while the car was still in drive. The Impala rolled forward and struck a State Police vehicle and another car. No injuries were reported.
Officers spotted the suspect at University Heights Apartment Complex. Charlottesville, Albemarle, and UVA Police assisted in establishing a perimeter.
Police are using ground and aerial units in the search. The suspect is an African American male, 6-foot-1, wearing a gray hoodie and dark pants.
Authorities urge the public to call 911 with any sightings.
