Richmond, VA – Southeast Virginia saw significant snowfall from the recent winter storm, with some areas reporting up to 7 inches.
According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, the heaviest snowfall occurred in far southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. Elizabeth City, NC, reported the highest total of 7.3 inches, while Virginia Beach and Suffolk recorded 5-6 inches. Areas such as Hampton and Williamsburg saw lighter accumulations ranging from 1-2 inches.
Richmond and central Virginia received minimal snowfall, with totals generally under an inch. Northern and western parts of the state saw little to no accumulation.
The snow caused hazardous travel conditions, particularly in coastal regions. Authorities urged caution as roadways remained slick Wednesday morning. Crews continue to work on clearing roads, with progress expected by Thursday.
