Wakefield, VA – Virginia is set for a welcome warm-up as temperatures climb near 50 degrees by Sunday, offering a break from January’s chill. Following a frosty Saturday morning, conditions will improve with partly sunny skies and milder air spreading across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, Sunday will bring highs ranging from 48 to 50 degrees in central and eastern Virginia, including areas like Richmond, Norfolk, and Williamsburg. Winds will remain light, making it an ideal day for outdoor plans. Overnight lows, however, will remain cold, dipping into the mid-20s to low 30s.

Looking ahead to the workweek, Monday will see sunny skies with highs in the mid-40s, continuing the warming trend. Tuesday and Wednesday promise even milder weather, with highs climbing to the low to mid-50s. By midweek, residents can expect mostly sunny skies and calm winds, creating near-perfect conditions for outdoor activities.

Despite the warm afternoons, nighttime temperatures will stay below freezing early in the week before gradually rising. Lows Monday night will drop into the upper 20s, but by Wednesday night, they’ll climb closer to 30. Drivers should stay cautious during early morning commutes, as leftover moisture from recent cold spells could still freeze on some roadways.

As January nears its end, the milder pattern is expected to continue, offering Virginians a taste of spring. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the pleasant daytime conditions while bundling up during the colder evenings.

Stay updated on any sudden weather changes, and prepare for outdoor activities as warmer days return to the region.
