Roanoke, VA – Residents across portions of Virginia and North Carolina should prepare for a cold morning as a Frost Advisory remains in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. EDT Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg.
Temperatures could fall to around 33 degrees, leading to frost formation across the Piedmont and Blue Ridge regions, including Roanoke, Danville, Lynchburg, Martinsville, Wilkesboro, South Boston, and Yadkinville.
According to forecasters, frost could harm or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation. Homeowners are urged to bring potted plants indoors and cover garden crops before midnight.
The advisory covers parts of north central and northwest North Carolina and central, south central, southwest, and west central Virginia, including Surry, Stokes, Rockingham, Caswell, Wilkes, Yadkin, Roanoke, Bedford, Franklin, Henry, Pittsylvania, Campbell, Halifax, and Charlotte counties.
Temperatures are expected to rebound after sunrise Friday, easing frost risks by mid-morning. Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts overnight for any temperature updates.
