Baltimore, MD – A winter weather advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. to midnight Saturday for Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. Snow, sleet, and freezing rain will create dangerous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, snowfall may reach one inch before transitioning to sleet and freezing rain. Ice accumulation could reach one-tenth of an inch, making roads slick.
Precipitation will start as snow Saturday morning, shifting to sleet by midday. Freezing rain will follow, coating roadways in ice. By evening, temperatures will rise, turning precipitation into rain.
Officials warn of treacherous roads, especially in Washington, Frederick, Shenandoah, and nearby counties. Drivers should reduce speed and allow extra travel time.
