Baltimore, MD – Spotty morning showers and cloudy skies are keeping the Mid-Atlantic cool on Sunday, but conditions are expected to change quickly as the week begins.
According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington, a wedge of high pressure is keeping temperatures lower today, with afternoon highs ranging from the upper 60s in the mountains to the low 70s around urban and bay areas. Winds are coming from the east-southeast at 5 to 10 mph, with gusts up to 15 mph possible.
By Monday, temperatures are forecast to rise into the mid-70s to low 80s. Sunshine will mix with clouds, but scattered mountain showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop by afternoon. Winds will shift from the south at 5 to 10 mph.
Tuesday brings increased humidity and storm potential across much of the region. Forecasters expect highs to climb into the upper 70s and low 80s, with afternoon showers and thunderstorms most likely in mountain areas but possible elsewhere.
Looking ahead, the NWS says a warm front lifting northward will bring more widespread rain and storm chances by mid to late week, potentially affecting commuters and outdoor plans across Maryland, Virginia, and the Washington, DC metro area.
