Blacksburg, VA – Blistering heat is gripping much of Virginia this week, with temperatures east of the Blue Ridge expected to climb past 100°F Tuesday and a growing chance for afternoon thunderstorms.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, highs will reach 95–101°F in the Piedmont today, with mountain areas also heating up to the mid-90s. A 20% chance of isolated PM storms is in the forecast, but that risk increases to 50% by Thursday as humid conditions intensify.

Cities like Lynchburg, Danville, and Roanoke could see peak heat indices near 105°F. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, wear light clothing, and stay hydrated.
