Richmond, VA – A freeze warning has been issued for southeast Virginia, with sub-freezing temperatures expected to hit the region overnight. The warning, which covers a wide area from 2 AM to 9 AM EDT on Wednesday, affects several counties, including Richmond, Brunswick, Dinwiddie, and surrounding areas.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to drop into the mid to upper 20s, which could cause frost and damage sensitive plants. Unprotected outdoor plumbing may also be at risk of freezing.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take precautions to protect their plants and outdoor plumbing from the cold. Frost and freeze conditions can be damaging to crops and other vegetation. People are encouraged to cover plants or bring them indoors if possible.
The freeze warning impacts central, east-central, south-central, and southeast Virginia, including parts of Amelia, Nottoway, Prince George, Sussex, and surrounding counties. The cold temperatures may create hazardous conditions for those unprepared.
