Chesterfield County, VA – The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR), is once again offering free in-person Hunter Safety Education classes for local residents this fall.
The program, now in its 32nd year, provides essential safety training required for new hunters in Virginia. Classes will be held on October 28–29 and November 18–19 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, seating is limited, and early registration is encouraged. The two-night courses will cover firearm safety, wildlife laws, and responsible hunting practices — key skills for those seeking hunting licenses in Virginia.
Classes are free to attend and open to all ages, though attendees must pre-register through the Virginia DWR website at dwr.virginia.gov/hunting/education.
For additional details, residents can contact Lieutenant Phillips at phillipsrl@chesterfield.gov.
Officials encourage first-time hunters and those seeking a refresher to take advantage of the training before the upcoming hunting season begins.
