Spotsylvania County, VA – A string of burglaries across multiple Northern Virginia jurisdictions led to the arrest of four juveniles early Thursday morning, according to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office. The teens, ages 15 to 17, are from Prince William County and Stafford County and are accused of participating in a series of break-ins stretching from Prince William to Spotsylvania and Fredericksburg.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded around 3:30 a.m. Thursday to a commercial alarm at Hall Precision and Gun Smithing. Surveillance footage reportedly showed four suspects attempting to pry open a door before fleeing in a vehicle after the alarm sounded.
A regional lookout was issued, and soon after, Fredericksburg Police reported a burglary at a local business with suspect descriptions matching those seen in Spotsylvania. Fredericksburg officers also provided a vehicle description and tag number linked to the suspects, which helped deputies locate the vehicle nearby. Authorities confirmed the vehicle had been stolen out of Prince William County.
Later that morning around 8:00 a.m., a Spotsylvania County school bus driver reported four masked individuals carrying what appeared to be a large screwdriver in a subdivision off Plank Road near BJ’s Wholesale Club. Deputies quickly saturated the area, and after a brief foot pursuit, all four suspects were taken into custody. Officials said the teens were still wearing clothing tied to both burglary scenes.
Detectives have charged all four juveniles with vandalism, burglary, possession of stolen auto, and conspiracy to commit larceny. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues across multiple jurisdictions.
The sheriff’s office thanked the Fire Marshal’s Office and Fredericksburg Police K9 Unit for their assistance in the arrests.
