Virginia – A calm coastal breeze moves across Virginia Beach this morning as thin clouds drift above the Atlantic shoreline. Roads remain mostly dry for now, but pockets of fog and clouds may reduce visibility later today.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, patchy fog may develop later this afternoon as temperatures briefly climb near 58°F before easing into the mid-40s through the evening. Calm coastal winds and lingering moisture may allow visibility to fluctuate along sections of I-264, Shore Drive, and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel corridor.

Drivers should watch for brief visibility drops where fog forms, especially closer to the coastline and low-lying neighborhoods.

Tonight remains mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and areas of fog developing late. Temperatures fall to around 42°F, keeping conditions cool but manageable for evening travel.

The weekend begins milder across coastal Virginia. Saturday turns mostly sunny after early fog clears, and temperatures rise to around 70°F, offering a brief taste of spring weather.

Rain chances return late in the weekend as a weather system approaches from the west. Showers become more likely Sunday with highs near 72°F, and a few thunderstorms may develop by afternoon as warmer air pushes into the region.

Early Sunday morning also marks the seasonal clock change. Clocks move forward one hour at 2 a.m., bringing longer daylight evenings to the Virginia coastline.

Early next week remains unsettled with occasional showers Monday and Tuesday while temperatures hold in the mid-60s.

Meteorologists say the broader pattern hints at a warming trend heading deeper into March across much of the eastern United States.
