Virginia – A thick layer of dense fog blankets the coast this morning, reducing visibility to just a few hundred feet in Virginia Beach and the Hampton Roads area. The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a Dense Fog Advisory until 9 a.m. Sunday, warning of low visibility and slick spots on I-64, Route 58, and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.

Drivers should slow down, use low-beam headlights, and leave extra room between vehicles until fog lifts mid-morning. The moisture-rich air and calm winds have created ideal fog conditions across the coast, and temperatures near 35°F mean some patches of frost or light ice may develop on bridges.

By late morning, skies turn mostly sunny and mild, with highs reaching 48°F — a brief calm before another winter system moves in Monday. Clouds increase through the day, and a rain–snow mix is possible Monday afternoon into the evening. The mix could briefly coat grassy areas and untreated roads as temperatures hover near 32°F inland.

Tuesday turns brighter and calmer, with highs in the mid-40s, followed by another system midweek that could bring a second round of rain and possible wet snow. Beyond that, models hint at a colder push from the north by December 11–17, signaling the coldest air of the month for much of the East Coast.

Five-Day Outlook (Virginia Beach, VA)

  • Monday: Rain/snow mix, high 42°F.
  • Tuesday: Sunny, high 44°F.
  • Wednesday: Partly sunny, high 54°F.
  • Thursday: Rain chance, high 48°F.
  • Friday: Cooler, high 40°F.
