Virginia Authorities Search for Dump Truck in I-95 Sign Crash

Fairfax County, VA – A dump truck struck an overhead highway sign on Interstate 95 and fled the scene Thursday, prompting the Virginia State Police to request public assistance in identifying the vehicle involved.

According to the Virginia State Police, the incident occurred at 12:18 p.m. near the 168-mile marker, just south of Route 289, when the truck, traveling north in the left lane with its dump bed raised, hit the overhead signage. The collision caused significant damage and debris to fall into the three right travel lanes.

State police are working with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to safely repair the signage and support structure. Anyone with information is encouraged to call VSP at 804-750-8798 or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
