Blacksburg, Virginia – A cold front sweeping through Virginia is clearing out the humidity and pushing showers east of the mountains, setting up a dry and seasonably warm stretch just in time for Independence Day celebrations.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, any lingering storms today will be limited to areas east of the Blue Ridge. Drier air begins filtering in Thursday, bringing sunny skies and highs in the low 80s across the state. The 4th of July holiday is expected to be rain-free, with comfortable humidity levels and plenty of sunshine.

Cities like Roanoke, Lynchburg, and Danville should expect clear conditions from Thursday through Sunday, with daytime highs ranging from 80 to 90 degrees. Outdoor events, fireworks shows, and road travel across central and southwest Virginia are not expected to face weather-related disruptions.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen as UV levels rise heading into the weekend. While conditions stay dry through Sunday, a return to typical summertime thunderstorms is possible early next week, especially by Monday afternoon.

⚠️ No watches or warnings are in effect at this time. Updates will resume if conditions change.
