West Terre Haute, IN – Emergency crews responded to a serious two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on IN-63 at Durkees Ferry Road that left one driver critically injured and two others hospitalized.

According to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 4:02 p.m. after reports of a collision between an SUV and a Jeep. When authorities arrived, they discovered the SUV driver entrapped inside the vehicle.

New Goshen Fire Department and TransCare EMS worked to free the victim and provide emergency care. Investigators said the SUV driver allegedly failed to yield the right of way to a southbound Jeep. The SUV driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown into the passenger seat and floorboard area.

The injured driver was airlifted to Eskenazi Trauma Center in Indianapolis and remains in critical condition. The Jeep’s driver and passenger were transported to Union Hospital in Terre Haute with injuries described as stable.

The Vigo County Fatal Accident Construction Team (F.A.C.T.) was dispatched to the scene to assist with the investigation, which remains ongoing. Authorities said the team was activated as a precaution due to the severity of the crash.
