Vernon Hills, IL – Police responded to a report of a man with a gun in a residential neighborhood on Saturday. Upon arrival, officers discovered two juveniles holding what appeared to be a handgun at the end of a driveway, fully visible to the public.
According to the Vernon Hills Police Department, the weapon was later confirmed to be a BB gun, and no one in the community was at risk. Officers handled the situation with professionalism, ensuring that the juveniles were unharmed.
Police encouraged parents to speak with their children about the dangers of handling both real and replica weapons. The department reminded the public that BB guns are regulated under local ordinances.
